Our First Photo Journal
The first three months of the year have been full of moments that have filled our eyes with tears of joy. As God brought many new students through the doors of Chispas of Change in January, a new chapter was started in the book of their lives as they now have access to daily discipleship, education, and nutrition.
We have been blessed by God’s provision for all of our needs through our generous supporters. Time after time, God uses different people to bring us exactly what we need at exactly the right time! Praise Him!
Please enjoy this brief photo journal of the first three months of 2025.
(left) We saw many happy students on the first day of school in January. Our 15-passenger van is still going strong!
(right) All of our students and their parents attended a special worship service organized by our teachers on the first day of school.
Our students are LOVING the new library! The returning students who already know how to read take turns reading to our new students.
Dalila felt so loved by her classmates on her 12th birthday. This year, we are inviting each student’s mom to join us for a special lunch at school, followed by cake or ice cream on their child’s birthday. We have all shed lots of happy tears.
We are so grateful for the generous donation of many new computers for our students to practice typing, word processing, Duolingo, and creating an email account.
(above) María, Tita, and Dalila help to prepare a special meal for lunch.
(below) Helen and Joanna enjoy Pepian, a traditional Guatemalan stew. Our students get a nutritious breakfast and lunch each school day, thanks to our faithful nutrition sponsors!
Each Friday morning, our staff gathers to pray and study the Word. It is essential for each of us to be prepared to answer our students’ pressing questions about the Gospel!
Gustavo (top) and Delmy (bottom), two former Chispas students, came to visit and share with our current students. What an encouragement to see the seeds that were planted years ago starting to produce fruit! Please pray for both of these young adults to seek the LORD with their whole heart.
First Dad Camp event! Most of our students don’t have a father figure, but a few do. Our friends at Dad Camp ministries hosted a special dinner at Chispas for our students’ fathers and other men from our community who play the role of father figure with the children in their spheres of influence. Please pray for God to raise up strong, godly men of integrity to lead the next generation!
Angel, our former student and school guardian, finally completed sixth grade, and with excellent marks! God has done a mighty work in his life and we are so proud of him.
Did you know that Chispas of Change started as a soccer team way back in 2017? We are pleased to share that the Chispas Soccer Team is finally back! We have three energetic teams this year: U-13 Boys, U-15 Boys, and for the first time ever, a girls team. About half of the players are from Chispas, and the other half are new kids from our community. This is a great way to reach children from our community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
Daniela and Yonathan, two of our new special needs students, are THRIVING at Chispas of Change! This is their first time in formal education, and we are so grateful that God brought them to us. Thank you to our generous supporters for making it possible to say YES when new students show up at our door!
Last but not least, sweet Helvi turned two recently. She is a real trooper and social butterfly while Mama and Papa are working at Chispas. She is a bookworm and loves to visit each class to say hello to the students.
Thanks for following along as we document the beautiful, redemptive work that God is doing in the lives of these precious little ones. We give thanks to God for faithfully guiding us and providing for our needs each and every day!
